on the morning of october 25, 2024, the school of labor and human resources organized a corporate visit for the 2024 cohort of the master’s in human resource development and management (mhr) program to lenovo’s smart innovation service park in tianjin, marking their first industry field visit to a major company.
this visit, meticulously organized by the school, followed extensive research and engagement with lenovo by professor li yuhui. lenovo’s tianjin smart innovation service park was recommended as a practical teaching base for the high-performance team building and management course, recognized for its integration of education, technology, and talent—an ideal fit for the applied learning objectives of the mhr program.
the visit commenced with a tour of lenovo's future center in tianjin. this three-story exhibition space offered an immersive experience, from cutting-edge ai technology displays to interactive digital art, sparking limitless creativity and inspiration among the students.

the first floor highlighted lenovo’s 40-year journey of technological advancement, depicting the transformative progression of computer and internet technologies. through vivid displays, students and faculty were invited to reflect on the profound impact of digital transformation on society. it was a unique opportunity to witness the milestones of technological progress and its significant contributions to societal advancement.
the second-floor exhibition focused on the forefront of industry intelligence, showcasing ai terminals and infrastructure. through a series of demonstrations, students observed how intelligent technologies can drastically enhance production efficiency and streamline processes. this glimpse into the future of smart applications sparked further interest and exploration into the revolutionary potential of ai in various sectors.

on the third floor, students experienced lenovo tianjin's highly intelligent production workshop and state-of-the-art automated notebook production line, providing insight into advanced manufacturing technologies and efficient production processes in modern industry.
the tour concluded with a visit to lenovo tianjin's smart three-dimensional warehouse, where students marveled at the sophisticated, highly automated warehousing environment. the digital twin system and intelligent display screen offered a tangible perspective on the impact of technology in management, inspiring new insights on operational efficiency and advanced management techniques.
in the subsequent discussion session, representatives from lenovo tianjin extended a warm welcome to the students. the factory’s hr manager, production manager from the intelligent manufacturing department, and lead engineers engaged with the students, offering insights into the factory’s automation and ai-driven operations, the unique aspects of lenovo’s hr practices, and their approach to government-industry collaboration and big data development.
through this visit, mhr students had the chance to observe first-hand the operations of a high-tech company, experiencing lenovo’s management systems up close. in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, the integration of theory with practice is more important than ever. to equip mhr students with a strong foundation in both classroom theory and practical management skills, the school actively collaborates with prominent enterprises to organize carefully planned field visits. this visit broadened the students' perspectives, enabling them to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world application, cultivate innovative management thinking, and build a solid foundation for their future careers.
