李海峥教授,美国佐治亚理工大学经济学院正教授(终身教授)。华中理工大学工学学士,中国人民大学经济学硕士,美国科罗拉多大学(波得主校区)经济学博士。《china economic review》编委顾委会委员及客座编辑,国家自然科学基金英文国际学术期刊《journal of management science and engineering》高级编辑。曾任国家自然科学基金重大数据项目指导专家组组长、国家自然科学基金-北京大学管理数据中心指导专家组组长、国家自然科学基金海外评委、中国留美经济学会主席、世界银行咨询顾问。佐治亚理工大学经济学院教授职称评审委员会主席,曾任佐治亚理工大学学术委员会委员及校议会代表。曾先后主持美国斯隆基金会工业研究中心课题、欧盟课题、国家自科基金课题、教育部课题、国家外专局课题等国内外研究项目。
讲座简介
this study provides a unified framework for human capital measurement and discusses various related empirical issues. we establish a theoretical linkage between human capital measurement at the individual level and at the aggregate level for an economy. under the framework, we discuss in detail human capital components, both observed and unobserved, and the complications in summing up individual human capital to aggregate measures due to substitutability among different skilled labor.
human capital has both education-based and wage-based measures. wage-based measures include the jorgenson-fraumeni lifetime income measure, relative wage-based efficiency units, and the newly developed measure using the generalized division of labor. we estimate the various regional human capital indexes using data from china during 1985-2018 and further investigate how human capital measurement affects the study of regional convergence. our results show that human capital measures can display substantially different regional distributions and dynamics, and the role of human capital on reginal economic convergence depends on the measurement as well as on economic development stages.
