lecture content:

as a revolutionary tool/subject, the widespread application of artificial intelligence has become an unstoppable trend. research on artificial intelligence can be divided into two major areas. the first area focuses on artificial intelligence and natural sciences, concentrating on how to design and create more advanced ai, which focuses on ai itself. the second area is artificial intelligence and social sciences (and/or humanities), concentrating on the impact of ai on human society, thus focusing on the externalities of ai. both research areas are equally important, but most existing studies focus on ai and natural sciences. the impact of ai on human society, especially the efficiency and ethical issues it raises, urgently needs systematic and in-depth attention and discussion. in this lecture, i will first construct a dual-dimensional model (perspectives: efficiency vs. ethics; impact scope: universal vs. specific) to review the existing research on ai and social sciences. based on this theoretical framework, i will introduce several ai-related studies completed or in progress by our team, exploring the impact of ai on human society in both specific management contexts and more general social contexts, aiming to provide insights for future related research.
